A place will inspire patriotism within us when we see the pictures and badges of the Indian Air force as well as the equipment used in Air Force.

It is located on the way towards Cherrapunji from Shillong. We Visited this place October 2014.

When we entered at the museum it was almost 3pm. Though the light was low that day.But first time in my life I saw this type of museum.

The Air Force Museum forms a part of the Indian Air Force’s Eastern Command in Shillong. The whole place is just a collection of pictures and few replicas of missiles. It is very nice for kids. With the history of air force the kids can see the replicas of large plane & missile.

The helicopter outside the museum was good attraction to the kids. There are some replicas of fighter planes. Apparently, at one time one could enter the planes. But now they are all locked up. .

They do not allow bags in the museum.

This is not a huge place-just a small museum showcasing the history of the Air Force (Eastern Command); uniforms, medals, lots of photos; the few helicopters/planes/missile launchers outside on the grounds.

Any museum is thrilling for us because museum is the
perfect place from where we can know about Indian defender. A Must Visit Place for all.

Best time for Shillong tour : March to June: March and April see the advent of summers but the weather is still quite pleasant. June to September: Monsoon months see average to heavy rainfalls in Shillong. October to February: October is when the rainfall stops and the weather begins to cool down.
