On a holy trail to Kedarnath

In 2006 we had organised the tour of Uttarakhand and this tour had a long tour.
We started our journey from Haridwar and we had stayed there for 1 day and next we went to GouriKund. This place is surrounding by the mountain and the weather also very cold.

GouriKund Histroy :

Goddess Parvati also hailed as ‘Gauri’ performed a serious penance at this place, in order to woe Lord Shiva for marrying her. The locals believe that Parvati resided in the Gauri Kund while conducting the ascetic and yogic practices toappease Lord Shiva. It is also believed that Gaurikund is the place where LordShiva proposed Parvati for marrying him and were soon tied in the knot at Triyugi Narayan, located in the vicinity of Gaurikund.

This place is also associated with the beheading of Lord Ganesha and how it was replaced with an elephant’s head. The lake is also known as ‘Parvati Sarovar’ where Goddess Parvati procured Ganesha as her son
Next we went to Kadarnath from Gourikund.

Note : Being a revered town in the Kedarnath pilgrimage circuit, non-vegetarian food and alcohol is strictly banned at Gaurikund and adjoining areas.
What is Gaurikund famous for?
Gaurikund is famous among tourist as Pilgrimage.

Kedar Yatra : First trekking of my life

We had to cover almost 14 km to reach that place. This journey is not suitable for old people so they can book horse or palki by which they reach that place.

The beauty of that place mesmerizing us and we almost travel 7 hour to reach that place and after 7 km there is place where you can eat some food. If you are nature lovers then please go on foot. It will be an amazing experience. On the way to the Kedarnath we had seen different natural beauty of that place and that was is so much pleasant for us.

Divine place:-

This is the one of the pilgrim among the 4 pilgrims in India and this is known as 4 Dham. The temple is surrounding by the mountain and these mountains had covered by snow, so the scenery was exquisite for us. We had forgotten our tiredness to saw that beauty of that place. SRI KEDARNATH ‘Pooja’ was done through ‘panda’ available inside the temple. Outside the temple a statue of Nandi Bull stands as Guard. Although we went that place in 2006 but after the natural disaster in 2013 the place was totally changed. This journey was always special for me.

After visiting the Kedarnath we came back at again Gourikund and from Gourikund we again stated our journey towards the Badrinath. At first we had visited at ‘Triyugi Narayan Temple.’ ‘The ancient temple is dedicated to god Vishnu. A special feature of this temple is a perpetual fire that burns in front of the temple. The flame is believed to burn from the times of the divine marriage. Thus, the temple is also known as Akhand Dhuni temple. Beside the temple there is a sinks for tacking the bath. The word “Triyugi Narayan” is formed of three words “tri” means three, “yugi” denotes the period of time, “Yuga” and “Narayan” is another name of Vishnu. In evening we visited this temple and that time the light was very low but still the ancient temple was looking beautiful.

After visited Triyugi Narayan Temple, We stayed at night, Guptakashi. Next Day We begin our journey toward ‘Joshi Math’ from ‘Gupta Kashi’

Note :
Distance (From Kedarnath): 27 Kms
Visited From: Sonprayag (10 km)

After visited Triyugi Narayan Temple, We stayed at night, Guptakashi. Next Day We begin our journey toward ‘Joshi Math’ from ‘Gupta Kashi’. We had first visited at ‘Ukhimath’ and ‘chopta valley’ and those places are very interesting.

It is located on the route to Kedarnath on a ridge on the west side of the Mandakini river valley at an elevation of 1,319mts above sea level. Guptkashi is a religiously important town of Uttarakhand as it houses ancient temples like Vishwanath temple and Ardhnareshwar temple.

Activities in Guptkashi:
Shopping: Being one of the largest towns in Rudraprayag district, there are plenty of shops and stores that cater to locals as well as tourists. One can purchase religious artifacts, idols, and paintings, art and craft from various shops in Guptkashi.
