We were going to simplify for 4 days. This is the forest in the Baripada district of Orissa. The train route is a little lengthy and also train tickets were not available at that time. So we were traveled by bus. The bus was departure at 7.45 AM from the esplanade. One can’t book bus tickets in advance. One must be booked the ticket from the bus stand on the date of the journey. Almost all the seats were filled in the bus. The bus was stopped once in a journey. The bus was reached Baripoda Bazar at 1 p.m. We were hiring an auto for reached Hotel Durga.
The hotel was booked in advance. Overall the hotel was nice and has a beautiful garden attached to a restaurant. During our journey, we did not too much so we were a little hungry. So after reached the hotel, we were having our lunch in the hotel. We ordered rice egg curry. The order took little time to deliver so we were clicking some photos.
After having lunch we were fresh up and visit the places neat that area. The same auto we booked for visit Jaganathmandir, Baripada market, Raj bari, Ambikamandir. The worship of those temples is different from others. In the market, we heard a reasonable restaurant with good food quality. The name of the hotel Garmagaram. After completed our dinner in that restaurant we reached our hotel at 9 pm.
2nd Day :
2nd day our car arrived at the hotel at 6 a.m. That day we planned to go to the Simplipal forest. One has to take Government Permission to enter into the forest.
We were reached at 6.30 am at the forest gate and there we took a tea break. We spent almost 10 minutes to take the permission to enter the forest.
At a time around 10 cars were given permission to enter the forest. The forest is fully covered with trees but the soil is very dry. After some time we realized that our car was covered with full of dust because of the gust of wind. Name the waterfalls are Barehipani (217 meters) and Joranda (181 meters).
Lush green nature but animals are hard to spot
The Joranda Falls is located in the Simlipal National Park near Dhanaulti in the Mayurbhanj district in the Indian state of Odisha. It is in the core area of Similipal national park. The Barehipani Falls is located close to the Joranda Falls.
It is the 19th highest waterfall in India. Joranda Falls has a total height of 150 meters. The water plunges over a lofty cliff in a single drop, spreading out slightly as it falls. This is the 19th highest waterfall in India. A large number of tourists visit this waterfall to enjoy the tranquil nature and revive themselves from the hectic city life. This spot is both a relaxing and stunning experience.
After Joranda our next destination was Barehipani Falls
Nice view of Barepani waterfalls. The place is beautiful. I would request you to carry your own food. Magnificent view. Barehipani is the second tallest waterfalls in India and I have heard that during the monsoons it carries a fair bit of water. However, we visited this place in January, and naturally, the volume of water was not much. You don’t get to see the waterfalls from a close range and you can only watch it from the opposite hill. here was a lush green valley just right of the parking slot which is amazing.
You can enjoy the scene of water flow and the sound.
You have to see from a distance place. Barehipani is India’s 2nd highest and Orissa’s highest waterfall. The height of the waterfall is 1309 ft just 55 mt less than Kunchikal Falls which is the highest waterfall in India. The source of the waterfall is the Budhabalanga River that flows over the mountain. It is a 2 tier waterfall, which means the waterfalls in two drops.
A village is located near the forest. We had lunch in the village hotel and we ordered the veg thali. After finished our lunch we went to the hotel. its almost 5 hours from Jungle side.
On the way, we visited kanakdurga temple. One can see many monkeys with the priest surrounding the temple.
