The place we will talk about today is Darjelling, the most beloved place in Bengal.I’ve done 12 tours in my life but Darjeeling never went around,I had a dream, I’d go for a Darjeeling trip. Though we planned to go darjeeling in 2017, but due to some political issues we couldn’t meet up with our plans..So in the first of 2018 we planned to go Darjeeling.
Although the experience of the Darjeeling tour was not so good, How ever we will share some of the best experiences. As per out tour plan We went to Darjeeling from Icchegaon. Already we published our Icchegaon Story.
From Icche gaon, Darjeeling takes 5 hours. From Icchegaon our first destination was Delo Park. Which was already posted in our previous article.

Our next destination was the lover’s point when we came back from Delo Park.
Lovers’ Meet View Point
The view of the confluence of the river Rangeet and Teesta is very nice. The viewpoint offers magnificent spectacle, the hills on the left side of the picture are in Sikkim while the right side hills belong to Kalimpong, West Bengal. It is only 10 k.m distance from Bara Mangwa, Darjeeling.
There is a food stall where one can buy different kinds of delicious chocolate but that stall is quite costly. In front of that stall, the viewpoint was mesmerizing everyone and with a sip of a teacup, one can complete one’s breakfast from that place to see that amazing viewpoint. This is the best combination ever for me.
In the middle of our journey, we stop our car in the place called Peshok. The weather of the hilly region is changed after the afternoon, so we felt cold in that place. In our lunch, we ordered noodles and momos. The food was good and one of the testy foods in that place is Thupka.
Close to Nature
After the lover’s point, our next destination was Lamahata Eco-park. A small Eco-park developed by the villagers. They have made a nice trail to the hilltop. The trail is among the magnificent pine forest. There is a watch-tower in that place and one can see the 360-degree view from that tower. We spent a lot of time in that place but sometimes the fog are covered the whole place. Apart from that, the place was nice to us.
We visited Darjeeling Mall on the day of Dashera, so the mall became overcrowded because of Dashera. We could not found a single place for sitting. We spent a lot of time in that mall. Because of Dashera, the zoo was closed so we could not visit that place.
Darjeeling is the world-famous because of its Toy Train. One has to buy the toy train ticket early otherwise; the ticket would be sold out. When the fog cover all over the place the toy train would be cancelled by the railway authority and that is the risky part of that journey. From that day we had different plans so we spent that day differently.
One of the famous temples of Darjeeling is Mahakal Temple which is a few meters away from Darjeeling Mall.
An ideal example of religious coexistence
History:
Mahakal Temple stands as a historical edifice on the spot where a Buddhist Monastery named ‘Dorje-Ling’ once stood which was built by Lama DorjeyRinzing in 1765. Legend has it that three Shiva-Lingas representing Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar (Lord Shiva) manifested themselves at the site in 1782. The monastery itself was plundered and destroyed in 1815 during the Gorkha invasion after which it was shifted to Bhutia Busty about a mile away and was called the Bhutia Busty Monastery. The Temple is a much revered and visited the religious shrine of the area.
To visit that temple one has walked in many stairs to reach that temple, so old age people try to avoid that place. The ideal time to visit the temple is in the morning. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva but the colorful flags around the shrine will make it appear quite different from the other temples we find on the plains. The only place of Darjeeling where one can found Hinduism & Buddhism together.
After that place, we completed our lunch at Darjeeling mall and after lunch, we visited Peace pagoda.
As that day was Dashera so there was not a single car on Road so we had to walk almost 2 km to reach that place. We were able to reach in the evening when the drum-beating ceremony was going on. At the time of the evening, the light was quite low still, the place looks beautiful.
Tea, Coffee and Maggie were available just outside that place. The place was calm and quiet and we spent almost 30 minutes of that place then we came back to our hotel.
The next day we came back to NJP and this tour quite relaxing for us and we enjoyed it very much.
